Zusammenfassung

Die Analyse des vegetativen Nervensystems mithilfe der Herzraten- oder Herzfrequenzvariabilität (heart rate variability, HRV) ist ein klinisch-diagnostisches Verfahren mit langer Historie. Mithilfe der HRV-Analyse lässt sich anhand von geeigneten Kenngrößen die vegetative Regulationskapazität und -funktionalität eines Menschen bestimmen, und sie eignet sich als integrative Kenngröße zur kardiovaskulären Risikoabschätzung und Gesundheitsprognose sowie zur Therapiekontrolle für unterschiedliche klinische und therapeutische Adressatengruppen. Die HRV findet v. a. in grundlegenden biomedizinischen und psychophysiologischen Fragestellungen zur autonomen Funktion, kardiovaskulären Regulation, Risikostratifizierung, Gesundheitsprognose und Therapiekontrolle Anwendung, und sie eröffnet seit einigen Jahren auch den sportmedizinischen und physiotherapeutischen Forschungsfeldern vielfältige Anwendungsperspektiven.
