Hyperparathyroidism (HPT) is defined as an excessive parathyroid hormone (PTH) production by hyperfunctioning parathyroid glands. Primary HPT is caused by autonomous single or multiple hyperfunctioning parathyroid glands often resulting in hypercalcemia, and it may occur more frequently as sporadic disease or in the context of hereditary diseases such as multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) syndrome [1]. …
