Abstract
Endodontic diagnosis is a process requiring organization of a mass of information drawn from the patient’s medical history, dental history, description of the chief complaint, radiographs, and clinical examination. The clinician must proceed in an organized manner while synthesizing the information and proceed through a differential diagnosis. As a starting point, the clinician must determine if the chief complaint is odontogenic or non-odontogenic in origin. The following will review varied aspects of the diagnostic process and serve as a guide for the clinician.
