Study of the remains of people from the past facilitates deeper understanding of (1) these individuals’ lives and (2) human physiology. Medical and scientific assessment of mummified and skeletal remains has enabled long-silenced stories to be told, especially about individuals whose voices are not typically represented among traditional sources of historical information (i.e., the literary record), including children [
